Why do I need to provide the domain information?

Why do I need to provide the domain information?

Summary

When you purchase the extension, you get a single copy of the software for use on the single website with the domain names specified on the order form. We need this information to configure the extension to work with these domain names when the site is live. We need to know both the built-in domain and the primary domain that you intend to use.

Built-in domain

Every Squarespace website has a built-in domain name that you'll use to administer your website. It will be something.squarespace.com where 'something' may be some random words and/or letters. We need to know this built-in domain.

Primary domain

When your site is made public, you'll probably be using a 'primary domain' for customers to use. This domain name won't include 'squarespace' in the name. You'll need to 'own' or 'have control' of this domain before you place an order with us. If you are transferring an existing website to Squarespace, it does not matter if this domain is connected to another website at the time of purchase, but we do need you to give us the details of the primary domain name on your order form. We use this to configure the extension to work with your domain name when the site is live, even if this is at a later date.

What if I want to change the domain name(s)?

If you plan to change the built-in domain name from the random words and/or letters to a more memorable name, please do this before you purchase the extension. The product is not transferable between websites and/or domains and will stop working if the built-in Squarespace domain name or the primary domain name is changed after purchase.

What if the primary domain changes?

Please ensure you know the primary domain name before you place your order. If it is incorrect, the product will need to be rebuilt and this may involve an administrative fee. Please contact us by opening a support ticket if you need to make changes.
