Wishlist button not working on mobile (April 2026)

Summary

Some customers may find that the 'Send Wishlist' button does not respond when tapped on mobile devices. The wishlist form may also be visible in the site footer on mobile devices. Both issues are caused by an undocumented change by Squarespace on 17 April 2026. 

This issue affects versions of the Wishlist plugin that were purchased before 20 April 2026. If you purchased your plugin after this date, or have an active plugin subscription, this issue should not apply to you (see below).

What you might be seeing

On mobile devices:

  • The Wishlist page loads as expected
  • Products appear correctly in the list
  • When tapping 'Send Wishlist', nothing happens
  • The wishlist form button incorrectly appears in the site footer
  • No form opens and no action is triggered

Desktop behaviour is unaffected.

What caused this

This issue is the result of a recent, undocumented change to the Squarespace platform, introduced on 17 April 2026. This change unlocked a new feature called Finish Layer but unintentionally caused problems for sites using custom code or plugins. 

Who is affected

You may be affected if:

  • You purchased the Wishlist plugin before 20 April 2026
  • You are using a one-time purchase version (not the subscription version)
  • Your site is being viewed on a mobile device

If you purchased the Wishlist plugin as a subscription

If you have purchased the Wishlist support subscription, no action is required. A fix for this issue has been developed and tested and will be applied to your plugin automatically (assuming that we still have administrator access to your website).

If you purchased the Wishlist plugin as a one-time purchase

If you purchased the plugin as a one-time purchase before 17 January 2026, you can purchase and install a compatibility update using this link: Wishlist upgrade.

If you purchased the Wishlist plugin on or after 17 January 2026, please get in touch with us using our support form. To help us resolve this quickly, please ensure you provide us with administrator access to your Squarespace site. This guide explains how to provide access.
